Use built-in interfaces and pile elements to model movement between the soil and the foundation, such as slippage and gapping. Achieve reliable results with realistic soil models and a comprehensive portfolio of visualization capabilities.

Get realistic stress and displacement assessments

To address the unique geotechnical challenges of soil structure interactions, PLAXIS 3D offers several calculation types, including plastic, consolidation, and safety analysis. A range of material models to predict the behavior of various soil and rock types, combined with robust calculations, helps ensure reliable results. These forces can be visualized in various ways and cross-section applications can be used to inspect specific areas in greater detail.

Drive efficiency with multidisciplinary workflows

Create logical geotechnical digital workflows that take projects from subsurface imports through design and analysis to multiple outputs.

WHAT?S PLAXIS 2D?

PLAXIS 2D is a powerful and easy-to-use finite element (FE) software for 2D deformation and stability analysis in geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics. PLAXIS is used worldwide by leading engineering firms and institutions in the civil and geotechnical engineering sectors. PLAXIS 2D is ideal for a wide range of applications, from excavations, embankments, and foundations to tunnels, mining, oil and gas, and reservoir geomechanics.

PLAXIS 2D includes all the essential elements for performing deformation and safety analyses for soils and rocks that do not require consideration of creep, steady-state groundwater or heat flow, consolidation analyses, or any time-dependent effects.

Easy-to-use finite element software

PLAXIS’s capabilities work together to create a powerful and intuitive finite element package for the geotechnical analysis of soil, rock, and associated structures. Renowned for its sound calculations, PLAXIS offers a wide range of material models to accurately model the behavior of various soil and rock types, which together provide a realistic assessment of stresses and displacements.

Quickly and efficiently create finite element models

PLAXIS guides users through several ways to efficiently create models with a logical geotechnical workflow. PLAXIS 2D models geometry using predefined structural element types and load types using CAD-like drawing capabilities that enable fast and efficient creation of finite element models.

For tunnel solutions, a design wizard features rapid creation and can modify tunnel cross-sections, specify reinforcement, tunnel lining, and loading conditions. Mesh mode offers automatic and manual mesh refinements, automatic generation of irregular and regular meshes, and mesh quality inspection capabilities.

Automate workflows

Save time with automatic flow direction determination, efficient search, probability analysis, and sensitivity analysis.

WHAT?S PLAXIS Designer?

PLAXIS Designer is an easy-to-use application for creating visually stunning 3D conceptual models. It eliminates the hassle of data merging and analysis. With Bentley’s open modeling environment, PLAXIS Designer helps you visualize and adjust site geotechnical data, including topology data, boreholes, piezometers, and field instrumentation, as well as design and construction engineering.

From design to analysis

Conceptual models can be exported to PLAXIS 3D LE, PLAXIS 2D LE, and PLAXIS 2D for slope stability, stress, deformation, consolidation, and groundwater analysis. You can also import boreholes from a gINT database or create them manually.

Construction sequences and volume calculations

Generate construction sequences by building layers of material to create roads, levees, earth dams, or user-defined shapes. Calculate material volumes to aid in planning.

Integrate field data

Integrated field data, such as piezometer data, can be extracted from various cloud platforms to visualize piezometer locations and water levels over time.

WHAT’S PLAXIS Monopile Designer?

PLAXIS Monopile Designer is a finite element software for monopile foundations. It transfers the results of the PISA joint industrial research project into everyday engineering practice. PLAXIS Monopile Designer reduces the amount of steel required for each monopile and therefore reduces the overall costs for any wind farm. It can be used as a standalone tool or in conjunction with PLAXIS 3D.

Reduce costs

Significantly optimize your single-pile foundation project. This will reduce overall steel, fabrication, transportation, and installation costs. The built-in length of the piles can be reduced by up to 35%.

Improve accuracy

Utilize the most advanced and innovative method for monopile design – Pile Soil Analysis (PISA). This method is industry best practice for the development of next-generation offshore wind farms.

Simplify workflows

Use PLAXIS Monopile Designer in conjunction with PLAXIS 3D to easily automate the process of generating and calculating 3D models. Derive, normalize, and parameterize ground reaction curves to calibrate your 1D model.

Analyze layered soils

Combine multiple sets of soil reaction curves, either rule-based or numerically calibrated from homogeneous soil profiles, to conduct 1D analyses of monopiles in layered soil in accordance with PISA Phase 2 results.

Validate the drawings

Automates the generation and calculation of a PLAXIS 3D FEM model to verify the final monopile geometry and validate the 1D design approach. Generates design verification models for homogeneous and layered profiles.
